Who are we?
The Panama National Handicrafts Fair It's an iconic space dedicated to the promotion, preservation and celebration of Panamanian artisan talent. Born with the aim of strengthening the cultural identity of the country, this fair brings together artisan from all regions, who put together their best creations, reflecting Panama's historic wealth, traditions and cultural diversity.
We are a platform that promotes the economic and social development of the artisan and give them an opportunity to show and market their works while at the same time encouraging cultural exchange between national and international visitors.
Through each edition, the fair promotes the recognition of artisan work as an true expression of Panamanian cultural heritage, supporting innovation without losing the essence of traditional technologies inherited from generation to generation.
Our mission is rescue, value and spread national craftswhile we contribute to the growth of those who keep our traditions alive.
Our vision is to consolidate ourselves as the country's main cultural and artisan event and to place Panama as a regional reference in popular art and artisan creativity.
Origin
The fair came up in 1977 with the need to create a centralized space where artisans from across Panama could display and sell their products and where buyers interested in genuine Panamanian crafts could find them without having to travel long distances.
Organization
For many years, the event was conducted by the General Board of Crafts at the Ministry of Trade and Industries. In 2023, for the first time, the Ministry of Culture assumed responsibility for organizing this fair event in its version No. 43.
Growth
The fair has grown significantly from its start. Recent editions have been attended by about 500 artisan and, according to data from the last fair held, an attendance of 23,997 visitors was obtained from both national and foreign countries.
